Active Crypto Investor Count Falls to Six-Year Low

The number of active crypto investors worldwide, primarily institutional and venture capital participants, fell to 651 in Q2 2026, according to CryptoRank. The figure represents a sharp decline from the record high of 2,564 reached in 2022 and sits only slightly above 2020 levels, when quarterly investor participation ranged between 250 and 450.

As overall participation continues to lag behind previous cycle highs, CryptoRank’s analysis indicates that crypto venture capital activity is becoming increasingly concentrated within a smaller pool of institutional and professional investors.
