AI Payment Agents Settle $173 Million in Transactions Over 12 Months

A new report from Keyrock found that AI-powered payment agents processed more than $73 million through 176 million transactions between May 2025 and April 2026, underscoring the fast expansion of machine-to-machine payments.

The study, conducted with Coinbase and Tempo, said the sector has rapidly progressed from a developing concept into a functioning payment ecosystem over the past year. With adoption continuing to grow, the report noted that major companies have already spent more than $8 billion on acquisitions tied to the emerging industry.
