Aptos Unveils Native Encrypted Mempool to Combat Front-Running and Censorship

Aptos is preparing to roll out a native, protocol-level, Encrypted Mempool designed to enhance transaction privacy and better protect user intent. The upgrade targets long-standing risks in blockchain systems, including frontrunning, order-flow leakage, and censorship.

In practice, transaction details will remain encrypted while blocks are being constructed and ordered, preventing sensitive information from being exposed prematurely. Once ordering is finalized, the transactions are decrypted and executed normally, ensuring they are still fully recorded on-chain in the final ledger.

According to Aptos Labs, the system is powered by a batched threshold encryption scheme, which aims to deliver these privacy improvements while keeping network latency low and preserving existing trust assumptions within the network.
