CME Group Prepares to Roll Out Bitcoin Volatility Futures in June

CME Group has stated that it intends to introduce Bitcoin Volatility futures beginning June 1, subject to regulatory approval. The new contracts will let traders speculate on expected swings in Bitcoin price rather than its direction.

The products will track the CME CF Bitcoin Volatility Index, a 30-day benchmark derived from CME options data. They will operate within the same CFTC-regulated framework that governs the exchange’s existing Bitcoin and Ethereum derivatives.
