Coinbase recently restricted access to over $3 million in digital assets as part of a coordinated global crackdown on cyber-fraud operations linked to scam networks in Southeast Asia.
The operation took place during “Disruption Week,” an initiative led by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Scam Center Strike Force, which coordinated federal agencies and private-sector partners to target and disrupt crypto fraud schemes affecting U.S. victims.
Working alongside the effort, Microsoft, Meta, and Starlink helped take down servers and hosting systems linked to the networks. The operation also disrupted more than 1.4 million social media and email accounts and culminated in arrests made by Thailand’s Royal Thai Police through its Anti-Cyber Scam Center.
