ECB President Lagarde Reportedly Opposes Binance EU License Bid as Greece Reviews MiCA Application

French crypto media outlet The Big Whale reports that ECB President Christine Lagarde has raised objections to Binance operating in the European Union during discussions with Greek officials.

The report claims that this stance may have influenced Greece’s regulatory direction, as the Hellenic Capital Market Commission considers rejecting Binance’s application under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation. Meanwhile, France is increasingly seen as Binance’s only major remaining pathway to secure continued access to the European market.

In response, Binance says it has submitted a fully compliant MiCA application in Greece, which it believes has already cleared initial review stages and is now awaiting further evaluation by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA).
