Echo Protocol Regains Admin Control, Eliminates 955 eBTC Linked to Attacker Wallet

In its latest update on X, Echo Protocol confirmed that a leaked admin key was used to mint unauthorized eBTC on the Monad network, resulting in losses of about $816,000. The team has since recovered the compromised key and subsequently destroyed the remaining 955 eBTC associated with the attacker.

The project further stated that the incident appears to be limited to Monad, with no evidence of impact on Aptos, where exposure is estimated at roughly $71,000. In response, Monad bridge operations have been suspended, related smart contracts have been upgraded, and users have been warned to avoid phishing attempts involving fake refund and recovery links.
