The Ethereum Foundation has seen continued staff turnover this week, with two senior researchers stepping down, bringing the number of recent high-profile departures to at least eight over the past several months.
The latest exits include Julian Ma and Carl Beek, both of whom wrapped up long tenures at the organization—four years for Ma and seven years for Beek.
In a post on X, Ma said he is moving into product and growth work, noting that while he values the foundation, it is not the right fit for his next career stage.
Beek also shared his departure on X, stating he will officially leave on May 29 and intends to take time off with his wife and newborn child.
These departures come amid broader leadership and structural changes within the organization. Last year, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin introduced a restructuring initiative and strategic shift in response to criticism of the network’s long-term roadmap, emphasizing the need to bring in new talent and improve scalability and performance.
