Europe Emerges as Epicenter of Global Crypto Wrench Attacks: CertiK

Web3 security firm CertiK reported that global crypto wrench attacks caused an estimated $101 million in losses during the first four months of 2026. Although only 34 incidents were documented, the figure has already nearly doubled the $52.2 million recorded throughout all of 2025.

According to CertiK, Europe accounted for 82% of reported cases, marking a sharp regional shift in attack activity. The firm warned that if the trend continues, total losses from wrench attacks in 2026 could climb into the hundreds of millions of dollars.
