Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of FTX, has officially filed a request for a presidential pardon through the U.S. Department of Justice’s pardon application portal, marking a formal step in his bid for clemency.
The submission comes while he serves a 25-year federal prison sentence imposed on March 28, 2024, following his conviction in a high-profile fraud case in which prosecutors said more than $8 billion in customer funds were misused.
The latest move adds to his ongoing attempts to secure relief, despite prior pardon requests having been rejected by President Donald Trump.
