Tokyo police have arrested Hu Xiaowei, also known as Hu Shi, a senior figure allegedly linked to the Cambodia-based Prince Group, according to Japanese media reports.
The case comes amid growing international scrutiny of the group. In the United States, authorities previously sanctioned Prince Group and 146 associated entities over allegations tied to online investment fraud, including so-called “pig-butchering” scams.
In Japan, Hu was detained on suspicion of submitting a false residency registration. Investigators are now continuing to examine his activities alongside the group’s reported operations within the country.
