Rotki Founder Warns Ethereum Validator Funding Plan Could Create Staking Cartel

Lefteris Karapetsas, founder of Rotki, has expressed concerns over a proposal to fund Ethereum core development through validator rewards.

He cautioned that such a structure could concentrate influence among large stakers, potentially enabling them to form a cartel and capture up to 10% of total validator rewards.

Beyond funding concerns, Karapetsas also pointed to broader issues in Ethereum’s development approach over the past decade, saying it has become increasingly disconnected from users’ needs and may require consolidation.
