Spain Rules Out Extension to EU MiCA Licensing Deadline for Unlicensed Crypto Firms

Spain’s financial markets watchdog, CNMV, has confirmed that the deadline to comply with the EU’s new crypto licensing framework will remain in place, with no grace period or exemptions for firms that fail to meet the requirement.

Consequently, crypto businesses operating without the necessary authorization must either obtain regulatory approval or withdraw from the European market.

The regulator added that it is working closely with affected companies, including Binance, to facilitate an orderly wind-down of operations while ensuring customer assets remain protected.
