Tether Invests $20 Million in Brazil's Mercado Bitcoin to Fuel Global Expansion

Tether has invested $20 million in the strategic growth financing round of Brazilian digital asset platform Mercado Bitcoin, as the company seeks to expand its on-chain financial services business.

Mercado Bitcoin, which serves 4.5 million users and has issued more than R$2 billion in tokenized assets while operating under more than 10 licenses across Europe and Brazil, plans to use the funding to strengthen its payments business, expand tokenized investment products and lending services, advance its on-chain capital markets offerings, and support its international expansion.
