UK FCA Warns Football Clubs Over Risks Linked to Unauthorized Crypto Sponsors

The UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has warned football clubs that sponsorship agreements with unauthorized cryptocurrency firms could expose them to legal risks, money laundering concerns, and reputational damage.

According to the regulator, some unapproved crypto companies may be leveraging partnerships with high-profile clubs to promote their products to football fans despite not being authorized to operate in the UK.

In response, the FCA has urged clubs to strengthen their due diligence processes and conduct more rigorous checks on potential sponsors before signing any agreements.
