Vitalik Buterin has clarified that the Ethereum Foundation should not be viewed as the central authority of Ethereum, but rather as one part of a broader ecosystem with a specific role.
He added that, from now on, the Foundation is expected to operate on a smaller scale while adopting a longer-term, opinion-driven stance. Its focus will be narrowed to core priorities such as openness, censorship resistance, capture resistance, privacy, and security, rather than expanding broadly into general ecosystem development.
He also noted that although ETH remains the most economically significant asset within Ethereum, some of the work required to support it as an asset lies outside the Foundation’s remit and should instead be handled by other organizations within the ecosystem.
